The Balvenie 25 Year Old is an exquisite Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, part of the distillery’s ‘Rare Marriages’ series, a collection of three distinct whiskies, including The Balvenie Thirty and The Balvenie Forty.

This unique blend gets its name from the Scottish slang for a muscular strain suffered by malt men during the days when whisky was still made by hand. The three main single malt whiskies in Monkey Shoulder are Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie – all from Speyside, the spiritual home of whisky. This gives Monkey Shoulder its distinctive fruity and rich flavour profile.

From Batch 3 of our Virgin Oak Series, we are proud to present an innovative single malt which enjoyed secondary aging in Hungarian oak. Master Distiller Billy Walker’s search for the unusual led him to the mountains of northeast Hungary to the Zemplén forest.
